Following a breathtaking 4km stretch down the Sliema promenade, one finds Spinola Bay, where some of the top cafes, bars and restaurants in Malta are concentrated. This leads to St. Julians, a town popular for its tourism oriented businesses.
St Julians is situated along a rocky coastline of bays and inlets, small beaches and lidos. This town is located north of the country's capital, Valletta. Once a small fishing village, St Julian's or ‘San Giljan’, as it is traditionally known in Malta, is named after its patron saint St Julian, also known as Julian the Hospitaller.
It has nowadays evolved into a Summer Resort known for the bustling clubs, hotels, restaurants and casinos. These are mostly in an area known as Paceville.
Paceville is beyond any doubt the hub of nightlife on the Maltese island, a mecca for the young Maltese and those visitors, out to party. With only a small number of residents, it is primarily a place of revelry, reaching a high pitch on weekends. There is a good range of restaurants, bars and nightclubs for all tastes. Live music features prominently in the nightlife scene with a number of talented up-and-coming musicians as well as excellent established local bands.
